9/12/2025 3 PM SB 79 UPDATE
Just like the Assembly, the Senate just passed the bill with the barest majority (21 votes).

Senate speakers promoted its many amendments as reason to now support it. While those amendments were substantial (click
HERE for a detailed analysis of the bill), they did not address the bill's fundamentally flawed assumptions about transit-oriented development, housing supply, and affordability.

Governor Newsom has until October 12 to veto the bill or allow it to become law.
